Aggregation-induced photoluminescence enhancement of protamine-templated gold nanoclusters for 1-hydroxypyrene detection using 9-hydroxyphenanthrene as a sensitizer

摘要:
In this study, we confirmed that protamine-templated gold nanoclusters (PRT-AuNCs) exhibit aggregation-induced emission properties (AIE-PRT-AuNCs). 1-Hydroxypyrene (1−OHPy) further induced the aggregation of AIE-PRT-AuNCs via hydrogen bonding and electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions, resulting in the aggregation-induced photoluminescence enhancement of AIE-PRT-AuNCs. 9-Hydroxyphenanthrene was able to decrease the background signal, thus increasing the sensitivity of the method. Based on these findings, a cost-effective, highly sensitive and selective strategy was proposed for the quantitative detection of 1−OHPy. This method displayed a wide linear range of 0.924 – 74.1 nmol/L with a low detection limit of 0.277 nmol/L, showing great potential for the monitoring of 1−OHPy in human urine. This strategy may provide a theoretical basis for future studies of the AIE properties of metal nanoclusters and their applications in the field of chemical and biological sensing. © 2020 Elsevier B.V.

摘要:
Uranium is a kind of natural radionuclide, when the human body is exposed to higher uranium radioactive conditions, it will cause adverse effects on their health. Therefore, the analysis and detection of uranyl ions in the environment is a vital prerequisite for preventing uranium pollution. A bipolar bidentate ligand isophthalaldehyde-tetrapyrrole (IPTP) was first synthesized and a study was characterized by its structure and spectral properties. In the present work, an innovative electrochemical sensor by using IPTP as a ligand for uranyl (VI) ion (UO2 2+), α-methacrylic acid as functional monomer and uranyl (VI) ion as a template, a relatively stable structure was constructed by stirring at 35 °C. Then, the polymer sol-gel was acquired by combining sol-gel processing under alkaline conditions, which was added dropwise to the surface of a carbon paste electrode (CPE) which had been modified with graphene (GR). The introduction of graphene allowed the reduction peak current of uranyl ions to be increased significantly. Under the optimum experimental conditions (pH=5 and the adsorption time=20 min), the ion-imprinted sensor was designed by adopting differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) for the sensing of uranyl (VI) ions. The detection technique successfully achieved the determination of uranyl ion in the concentration range 1.0 × 10−10 mol L − 1 to 1.0 × 10−7 mol L − 1, in practical soil samples with excellent repeatability and recovery (97.3%-102.9%). © 2020 Elsevier B.V.

目的 建立人尿中1-羟基芘(1-OHP)荧光猝灭法的测定方法.方法 在pH值为4.5的磷酸氢二钠-柠檬酸缓冲液中,1-OHP与鱼精蛋白-金纳米簇(PRT-AuNCs)反应,通过荧光猝灭程度(△F)得到标准曲线,对1-OHP进行定量.结果 在最佳实验条件下,测定值为1.03 nmol/L~62.80 nmol/L时,1-OHP与△F有良好的线性关系,线性回归方程为△F =577.91+ 17.89 c(10-9mol/L),R2为0.998 5,方法检出限为0.309 nmol/L,人尿样中1-OHP的加标回收率为94.39%~104.52%.结论 本法简便、快速、灵敏,所用仪器设备简单,易于推广,提高金纳米簇传感系统的灵敏度,可用于人尿中1-OHP的检测,为评价人体在多环芳烃(PAHs)下的暴露情况提供数据支持.

摘要:
The protamine capped gold nanoclusters (AuNCs@PRT) were synthesized by an one-pot approach, and utilized as a nanoprobe for highly sensitive and selective assay of U(VI) ions. The method is based on the aggregation induced fluorescent quenching of AuNCs@PRT by U(VI) ions. Under optimum conditions, the decrease of fluorescence intensity displayed a good linear correlation with the concentration of U(VI) ions ranging from 20.4nM to 9.74muM, with a detection limit of 6.1nM. The relative standard deviations were 3.86%, 1.41% and 1.71% via 11 detections at concentrations of 40nM, 0.40muM and 4.0muM of U(VI), respectively. The quenching mechanism was demonstrated to be due to the binding of U(VI) towards PRT to cause the aggregation of AuNCs@PRT rather than metal-metal interaction. The results suggest the potential application of this approach for monitoring the level of U(VI) in environmental samples.

Linear β-cyclodextrin polymer functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-CDP) were synthesized and employed as a novel nanoadsorbent to remove uranyl ions in wastewater solutions. The characterization of MWCNTs-CDP, with Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), suggested that the CDP was successfully modified on the MWCNTs surfaces. The removal efficiency of uranyl ions in aqueous solution by MWCNTs-CDP was investigated via varying various experimental conditions. We found that the removal of uranyl ions correlated with both pH and temperature, and the optimum pH and temperature were 6.0 and 323.15 K, respectively. The adsorption of uranyl ions was very fleet at the initial 1 h and then reached the adsorption equilibrium after 3 h. The data from the adsorption dynamics experiment could be commendably fitted by the pseudo-second-order model (R2 > 0.982), suggesting that chemisorption might be the rate-controlling mechanism. The Langmuir model (R2 > 0.995) manifested that the maximum adsorption capacity of uranyl ions on MWCNTs-CDP was boosted from 66.16 to 89.54 mg g-1 upon the change of temperature from 293.15 to 323.15 K. This result was better than that of some reported adsorbents. The thermodynamics analysis proved that the adsorption of uranyl ions on MWCNTs-CDP was a spontaneous process and an endothermic one. The adsorption mechanism of uranyl ions on MWCNTs-CDP was verified to be dominated by inner-sphere surface complexation. Our results indicated that MWCNTs-CDP can be utilized as a novel nanoadsorbent for highly effective removal of uranyl ions in actual uranyl-bearing effluents. © 2019 American Chemical Society.

This work describes a method for the determination of 1-hydroxypyrene (OH-Py) via aggregation-induced quenching of the emission of protamine-coated gold nanoclusters using 9-hydroxyphenanthrene (OH-Phe) as a sensitizer to boost the emission efficiency of nanoprobe. Under optimum conditions, the drop in fluorescence intensity at excitation/emission wavelengths of 300/596nm is proportional to the concentrations of OH-Py in the range from 1.0 to 65nM. The relative standard deviations are 4.2, 2.4 and 1.9% (for n= 11) at concentration levels of 8.0, 32 and 48nM of OH-Py, respectively. The detection limit is 0.3nM which is much lower than that of some previously reported methods. The recoveries from urine samples spiked with OH-Py ranged between 94.4 and 98.8%. We report a label-free ultrasensitive and selective strategy for Pb(ii) assay by a multifunctional DNA probe (MDP)-mediated rolling-circle amplified synthesis of the G-quadruplexes. The MDP acted as a target recognition probe, a catalytic DNAzyme and a primer of rolling-circle amplification (RCA). The presence of Pb(ii) can induce the conformational switching of the MDP, resulting in the cleavage of the S-DNA in the MDP to release an E-DNA. The released E-DNA then initiated a RCA reaction with a reasonably devised padlock DNA template to produce an accumulated amount of repeated sequences. The RCA product in the present work was designed as a G-rich sequence, which could fold into thousands of G-quadruplex units. The G-quadruplex formed by RCA can specifically bind to NMM to result in an amplified fluorescence signal. Through these cascade amplifications, Pb(ii) ions can be detected at as low as 94.29 pM, which is much lower than those reported in related literature. We expect that this amplification strategy might be helpful in the design of a highly sensitive analytical platform for wide application in environmental and biomedical fields. © The Royal Society of Chemistry.

In this paper, cheap liquorice residue was used to prepare activated carbon (AC), thioacetamide (TAA) was used to modify the AC, and the adsorption experiments were conducted in the simulated acid radioactive wastewater with low uranium concentration to study the adsorption behavior and mechanism for uranium by TAA modified AC (TAA–AC). The removal efficiency by TAA–AC was 92.1–98.2% from the 1mgL−1 uranium solution at pH 2–6. The adsorption equilibrium data were well fitted by Dubinin–Radushkevich model, and the maximum adsorption capacity was estimated to be 340mgg−1. TAA–AC showed an enhanced selectivity for uranium in the presence of competitive ions. Furthermore, the adsorption experiments were conducted in the actual acid radioactive wastewater with low uranium concentration from an in situ leach uranium mine. The high adsorption rate (98.3%) and selectivity (Kd = 3.78×104mLg−1) for uranium were observed in the actual acid radioactive wastewater, and the adsorption rate was found to maintain 96.2% over six cycles of adsorption–desorption. © 2018, Akadémiai Kiadó, Budapest, Hungary.

The authors report on a one-pot approach for synthesizing highly fluorescent protamine-stabilized gold nanoclusters. These are shown to be a viable nanoprobe for selective and sensitive fluorometric determination of lead(II) via quenching of fluorescence via Pb(II)-Au(I) interaction. Under optimized conditions, fluorescence measured at excitation/emission peaks of 300/599nm drops in the 80nM–15μM lead(II) concentration range. The detection limit is 24nM, and relative standard deviations (for n = 11) at concentrations of 0.10, 4.0 and 15μM are 1.6, 2.5 and 1.9%, respectively. The relative recoveries of added lead(II) in the water samples ranged from 97.9 ± 2.29% to 101.2 ± 1.83%. We certify that protamine-gold nanoclusters (PRT-AuNCs) synthesized by one-pot method exhibit peroxidase-like activity. The catalytic activity of PRT-AuNCs followed typical Michaelis-Menten kinetics and exhibited higher affinity to 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) as the substrate compared to that of natural horseradish peroxidase. Meanwhile, we found that Hg(II) could dramatically and selectively enhance the peroxidase-like activity of PRT-AuNCs, and the enhanced mechanism by Hg(II) was demonstrated to be generation of the cationic Au species and the partly oxidized Au species (Au(delta+)) by Hg(2+)-Au(0)/Au(+) interaction. Based on this finding, quantitative determinations of Hg(II) via visual observation and absorption spectra were achieved. The proposed strategy displays high selectivity that arises from the strong aurophilic interaction of mercury towards gold. Moreover, the developed method is highly sensitive with a wide linear range and low detection limit of 1.16 nM. This strategy is not only helpful to develop effective nanomaterials-based artificial enzyme mimics but also irradiative to discover new applications of artificial mimic enzymes in bio-detection, medical diagnostics, and biotechnology. Graphical abstract Protamine-gold nanoclusters (PRT-AuNCs) synthesized by one-pot method exhibit peroxidase-like activity. Hg(II) can stimulate the peroxidase-like activity of PRT-AuNCs selectively, enhancing their ability to catalyze the chromogenic reaction of TMB by H2O2.

摘要:
The coordination reaction of thorium (IV) with a ditopic bidentate ligand to form supramolecular polymer was studied by resonance light scattering (RLS) spectra, second-order scattering (SOS) spectra and frequency-doubling scattering (FDS) spectra, respectively. The ditopic bidentate ligand is isophthalaldehyde-tetrapyrrole (IPTP). It was synthesized through a condensation reaction of isophthalaldehyde with pyrrole. The formation of supramolecular polymer results in remarkable intensity enhancements of the three light scattering signals. The maximum scattering wavelengths of RLS, FDS and SOS were 290, 568 and 340 nm, respectively. The reaction was used to establish new light scattering methods for the determination of thorium (IV) by using IPTP as probe. Under optimum conditions, the intensity enhancements of RLS, SOS and FDS were directly proportional to the concentration of thorium (IV) in the ranges of 0.01 to 1.2 mu g mL(-1), 0.05 to 1.2 mu g mL(-1) and 0.05 to 1.2 mu g mL(-1), respectively. The detection limits were 0.003 mu g mL(-1), 0.012 mu g mL(-1) and 0.021 mu g mL(-1), respectively. The methods were suitable for analyzing thorium (IV) in actual samples. 摘要:
以热处理平菇子实体作为生物吸附剂,研究其对低浓度铀的吸附性能,采用批试验考察pH、温度、时间和平菇加入量对吸附性能的影响,对动力学、热力学和等温吸附模型进行了拟合。结果表明,当溶液pH为5.0,温度为35℃时,吸附效果最好,并在3 h趋于平衡。初始铀浓度为1 mg/L,热处理平菇对铀的平衡吸附量和吸附率分别为4.53 mg/g和90.5%。等温吸附方程参数说明热处理平菇对铀离子具有较大的吸附潜力;准二级动力学模型能较好地描述其动力学特性;吸附反应是自发的,且为吸热反应,适当地升温可以促进平菇对铀的吸附。

摘要:
A novel wireless magnetoelastic sensor (WMS) strategy for Hg2+ assay was proposed using a specific aptamer probe and graphene oxide (GO) as an adsorbent. The introduction of Hg2+ results in the release of CDNA-biotin. This one can be adsorbed to the surface of GO that was immobilized on the WMS along with a decrease of the resonance frequency of the sensor. A biotin-streptavidin (SA)-gold nanoparticles( AuNPs) system designed in this work was used for amplifying response signal of the sensor. The signal intensity linearly correlated with Hg2+ concentration ranging from 2.80 to 88.9 nM with a detection limit of 0.885 nM. This WMS has additional advantages of being less time-consuming, low cost and remote query, and can be employed for the real-time and in situ detection of Hg2+ in real samples. The mechanism for structure switching and signal amplification was also studied by transmission electron microscopy and UV-vis spectra. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

We report on a novel and highly sensitive strategy for UO<inf>2</inf><sup>2+</sup>detection. The designed single-labeled hairpin signal probe (SSP) was employed as a reporter, and a multipurpose RNA-cleaving DNAzyme as a target recognition element, catalytic DNAzyme and the primer of substrate fragment recycling amplification. The presence of UO<inf>2</inf><sup>2+</sup>results in the substrate strand in DNAzyme being cleaved at the RNA site, releasing short substrate fragments. The fragment that is complementary partially with SSP could open the hairpin of SSP to form a double-stranded DNA with recessed 3′-termini, which could be selectively digested by exonuclease III. After the double-stranded DNA is fully consumed, the substrate fragment is released. This one could hybridize with another SSP to initiate the next round of digestion by exonuclease III. The recycling of substrate fragments can be repeated multiple times, resulting in the accumulation of the more 6-carboxyfluorescein in the solution along with an amplified fluorescence signal. By this strategy, we achieved hitherto an unreported UO<inf>2</inf><sup>2+</sup>detection limit of 2.4 pM. Therefore, this novel exonuclease III-amplified strategy has great potential for highly sensitive and selective quantification of UO<inf>2</inf><sup>2+</sup>in biomedical research and environmental science fields. ©2016 The Royal Society of Chemistry.

摘要:
The authors describe a strategy for fluorometric determination of lead(II) that is based on the suppression of the surface energy transfer that occurs between acridine orange and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). As a result, the fluorescence of the system is recovered. Under optimized conditions, the enhancement of fluorescence intensity is related to the concentration of lead(II) in the 44nM to 4.8μM range, with a detection limit of 13nM. The relative standard deviations for 11 determinations at concentrations of 0.386μM, 1.93μM and 2.89μM are 1.02%, 1.06% and 1.75%, respectively. This result suggests that the method can potentially be used to monitor the level of lead(II) in environmental samples. [Figure not available: see fulltext.] © 2016, Springer-Verlag Wien.

摘要:
A kind of functional plant composite adsorbent was prepared through diethylenetriamine modifing the Cycas revoluta leaves for low concentration of U(VI) in waste water. The dynamic behavior of the adsorption, the Langmuir and Freundlich equations and the thermodynamic parameters was were also examined in the present study. The experimental results showed that diethylenetriamine functionalized Cycas revoluta leaves used for low concentration of uranium possessed many advantages such as widely raw material sources, simple and economy for preparation, less adsorbent dosage, short balance time, high adsorption efficiency, good chemical and mechanical stability, and can be effective regeneration or reused.

A novel strategy for dual-channel detection of metallothioneins (MTs) and Hg2+ has been proposed. In the absence of Hg2+, the functional chimera aptamer (FCA) designed can form an intact G-quadruplex with flexibility, which was demonstrated to have peroxidase-like activities upon hemin binding. In the presence of Hg2+, the formation of T-Hg2+-T complex results in the conformational switching of FCA, which lost the peroxidase-like activities and cannot catalyze the oxidation of ABTS by H2O2. Upon addition of MTs in this solution, MTs could interact with Hg2+ to form a MTs-Hg2+ complex, leading to the recovery of the G-quadruplex DNAzyme. The color and absorbance of the sensing system were also changed accordingly. In the optimizing condition, δA was directly proportional to the concentration ranging from 8.84nM to 1.0μM for Hg2+, and 7.82nM to 0.462μM for MTs with the detection limits of 2.65nM and 2.34nM, respectively. The proposed dual-channel method avoids the label steps in common methods, and allows direct analysis of the samples without costly instruments, and is reliable, inexpensive and sensitive. © 2015 Elsevier B.V.

We report on an enzyme-free and label-free strategy for the ultrasensitive determination of adenosine. A novel multipurpose adenosine aptamer (MAAP) is designed, which serves as an effective target recognition probe and a capture probe for malachite green. In the presence of adenosine, the conformation of the MAAP is converted from a hairpin structure to a G-quadruplex. Upon addition of malachite green into this solution, a noticeable enhancement of resonance light scattering was observed. The signal response is directly proportional to the concentration of adenosine ranging from 75 pM to 2.2 nM with a detection limit of 23 pM, which was 100-10,000 folds lower than those obtained by previous reported methods. Moreover, this strategy has been applied successfully for detecting adenosine in human urine and blood samples, further proving its reliability. The mechanism of adenosine inducing MAAP to form a G-quadruplex was demonstrated by a series of control experiments. Such a MAAP probe can also be used to other strategies such as fluorescence or spectrophotometric ones. We suppose that this strategy can be expanded to develop a universal analytical platform for various target molecules in the biomedical field and clinical diagnosis. © 2015 Elsevier B.V.
