Theoretical investigations are conducted to examine the impact of toroidal rotation and ion collisional viscosity on low-frequency zonal flow (LFZF) in a tokamak plasma with the fluid model. The results indicate that while the frequency of LFZF remains unchanged during an isothermal process with γ=1, its damping rate is influenced by both toroidal rotation and ion collisional viscosity. Specifically, as the ion collisional viscosity increases, so does the damping rate of LFZF; conversely, as the toroidal rotation As its Mach number rises, its damping rate decreases. For a non-isothermal process with γ>1 (such as γ=5/3), the damping rate and frequency of LFZF are influenced by both toroidal rotation and ion collisional viscosity. It has been demonstrated that when the toroidal rotation Mach number surpasses a certain threshold, the frequency transitions from zero to a finite value, while the damping rate decreases as the toroidal rotation Mach number increases for LFZF. Furthermore, it has been observed that the damping rate of LFZF increases while the frequency decreases with an increase in ion collisional viscosity. Moreover, when the ion collisional viscosity surpasses a certain threshold, the frequency of LFZF drops to zero. © The Korean Physical Society 2024.

<jats:p>In this study, D(H) minority ion cyclotron resonance heating (ICRH) scenarios in Nan Chang spherical tokamak (NCST) were simulated using the full-wave code TORIC. NCST is a low-aspect-ratio (R/a = 1.67) spherical tokamak, with its core plasma parameters characterized by a magnetic field intensity of 0.36 T and a density of 1018 m−3. Our simulation results demonstrate that the ion cyclotron wave can penetrate the core plasma of the NCST more effectively with a lower toroidal mode number, indicating that resonant ions can absorb the wave energy efficiently. Furthermore, it is found that as the minority ion H concentration is increased, a noticeable decline in the left-handed electric field adjacent to the ion cyclotron resonance layer is observed. Optimal heating efficiency is attained when maintaining a minority ion H concentration within the range 5%–10%. The minority ion velocity distribution was simulated to estimate the tail temperature of minority-ICRH, which is expected to exceed 10 keV. The difference in the power efficiency with different plasma compositions [Ar(H) and D(H)] was also simulated. When the H-ion cyclotron resonance layer is located at the core plasma, the power-absorption fraction of H in Ar(H) plasma surpasses that of D and H combined in D(H) plasma under identical conditions. These simulations provide a crucial foundation and theoretical reference not only for NCST but also for other spherical tokamaks conducting ICRH experiments.</jats:p>

Efficient ion heating is crucial for future fusion devices, and the only way to heat ions directly is ion cyclotron resonance heating. Reported here is a full wave solver integrated with a Fokker-Planck code for optimizing ion heating with ion cyclotron range of frequency waves for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor deuterium-tritium plasma. Both the direct absorption of minority ions and the power transfer to bulk ions via collisions are considered, while also accounting for the edge effects on ion absorption near the core. The simulation results show that the appropriate scrape-off layer density profile and parallel wave number lead to enhanced edge coupling and broaden the absorption region with moderate absorption intensity of the minority ions, which is very important for ion heating. More power from the heated ions is transferred to bulk ions than to electrons through collisions in our simulation via optimization, and reducing the total RF power results in a significant increase of the absorbed fraction of bulk ions. © 2024 The Author(s). Radon is a radioactive gas produced by the decay of radium in uranium tailings, which can migrate to the atmosphere through tiny pores in the soil and can be used to characterize the internal stability of tailings dam. A method for determining the stable zone of radon is proposed, in which the radon concentration of uranium tailings pond is divided into stable zone, asymptotically stable zone, and unstable zone, and through the WOA-BP neural network algorithm for intelligent early warning of stability zone. The results show that the MAPE (Mean Absolute Percentage Error) is reduced by 20.16% by dividing the stable region, And MAPE of WOA-BP neural network algorithm is 8.22% lower than that of BP neural network algorithm. It shows that this method can provide guidance for the safe and stable operation of uranium tailings pond. © 2023, Akadémiai Kiadó, Budapest, Hungary.

Soil cohesion can be improved with reinforcement treatment. Glass fiber, polypropylene fiber, jute, and other commonly used organic and inorganic fiber materials were used as experimental materials to investigate the effect of reinforcement fiber type and dosage on radon exhalation in uranium tailings overlying soil under high temperature environment, and soil samples with different fiber types and dosages were prepared for radon exhalation test. The correlation analysis method was used to investigate the relationship between the radon exhalation law and the type and amount of reinforcing fibers in the overburden, and a linear function was constructed between the radon exhalation rate and the type and amount of reinforcing fibers. The results show that the radon exhalation rate of the jute reinforcement treatment is the lowest under the same dosage, followed by the polypropylene reinforcement treatment, and the effect of the glass fiber reinforcement treatment is the worst, but the radon exhalation rate of all treatments is high. In plain soil, increasing the fiber reinforcement reduces the degree of soil cracking and the rate of radon exhalation. When the material source and cost are taken into account, the jute reinforcement treatment can achieve a lower radon exhalation rate. © 2023, Akadémiai Kiadó, Budapest, Hungary.

摘要:
Acceleration, displacement, stress response, and other dynamic response topics are currently the key topics of research. Because uranium tailings reservoirs are radioactive, earthquakes can also cause radon to be released. In order to monitor the acceleration response, displacement (both surface and interior), and radon exhalation rate of the dam body of the uranium tailings reservoir under various seismic peak accelerations, the shaker model test is used. When the peak acceleration is 0.7g, the displacement swings even more visibly, and when the peak acceleration is 1.0g, the surface of the dam shows clear fissures. However, the radon response will be quicker and stronger, and as the acceleration of the seismic peak keeps rising, the response gets stronger and stronger. As a result, the dynamic reaction can also be determined from the radon response. The findings of the tests can be used as a guide for the safe and stable operation of uranium tailings reservoirs. © 2022, Akadémiai Kiadó, Budapest, Hungary.

To study the law of uranium tailings impoundment cover fissures and radon exhalation under the continuous heat and insolation conditions, the soil and uranium tailings samples from South China are made into the uranium tailings impoundment scale mode. The model was placed in a climate chamber for continuous heat and insolation environments. The fissures rate, radon exhalation rate and electrical conductivity of the model soil layer were calculated and analyzed. The results show that: (1) the radon exhalation rate and fissure ratio have the same variation pattern (2) the electrical conductivity characterization correlates with fracture rate and precedes fracture rate, which may predict the fissure growth. (3) When the experimental time exceeded 21h, the electrical conductivity and the radon exhalation rate change showed a strong inverse correlation. © 2022, Akadémiai Kiadó, Budapest, Hungary.

摘要:
A series of simulation experimentations are carried out on the overburden soil of the uranium tailings impoundment under the conditions of heat and insolation. The results show that: (1) The radon exhalation rate on the overburden soil of the uranium tailings impoundment increases rapidly at first and then slows down with the decrease of the moisture content. (2) The radon exhalation rate increases rapidly at first and then slows down with the increase of fractal dimension. The fitting formula of the influence of moisture content and fractal dimension on radon exhalation rate can be used to guide the radiation protection design and construction of the uranium tailings impoundment. © 2021, Akadémiai Kiadó, Budapest, Hungary.

A planar slotted patch antenna is proposed for ground penetrating radar (GPR). The proposed antenna has a wide bandwidth ranging from 600 MHz to 4 GHz. Tapered slot feeding, curved ground plane, and slot loading are used for a wideband operation, whereas resistive loading is utilized for removal of notch band. Current loops made by slots are bifurcated with the use of 50 Ω resistors. The antenna is designed and optimized to achieve good performance, especially at lower frequencies while keeping the antenna's physical dimension relatively small. The time-domain analysis of the antenna is performed, and the comparative graph is added after analysis to validate its performance in the impulse-based radar. Furthermore, a sandbox test is conducted; the experimental results show the significance of the proposed antenna toward GPR application. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

A new planar antenna is proposed for multiple applications in ground-penetrating radar. The proposed antenna offers ultra-wide band characteristics ranging from 100 MHz to 6 GHz. The antenna composed of two elements: an electrical tree-shaped portion and a magnetic loop antenna, made by joining an electrical antenna with a ground plane via 50 Ohm resistor. The loop antenna portion provides a low-frequency operation without increasing physical size of the antenna. Proposed antenna has relatively small dimensions 20 × 22.5 cm 2 as compared with similar antennas covering the same bandwidth. Time domain analysis of this antenna is done to check its performance for applications in impulse-based radar systems. The antenna has been manufactured and experimental results are added to validate simulation results. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

摘要:
Under the assumption that stochastic white noise perturbations are directly proportional to the deviation of the state from the equilibrium states of a continuous mutualistic model, we use the Euler–Maruyama discretization method to obtain a two-species stochastic discrete mutualism model. For this stochastic model, we establish conditions on the asymptotic mean square stability of the positive equilibrium state and the almost sure asymptotic stability of the three boundary equilibrium states. The theoretical results are supported with numerical simulations. © 2019, The Author(s).

Control of the current profile is a crucial issue for improved confinement and the inhibition of instability in advanced tokamak operation. Using typical discharge data for the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak, numerical simulations of driven-current profile control in mode conversion current drive (MCCD) in the ion cyclotron range of frequencies were performed employing a full-wave method and Ehst-Karney efficiency formula. Results indicate that the driven current profile in MCCD can be effectively modified by shifting the mode conversion layer. The peak of the driven current can be located at an aimed position in the normalized minor radius range (-0.60≤r/a≤0) by changing the radiofrequency and the minority-ion concentration. The efficiency of the off-axis MCCD can reach 233 kA/MW through optimization, and the mode converted ion cyclotron wave plays an important role in such scenarios. The effects of electron temperature and plasma density on the driven current profile are also investigated. © 2018 Author(s).

摘要:
A novel wideband unidirectional multi-dipole antenna is proposed, which has an enhanced impedance bandwidth of about 68.1% for VSWR < 1.5 and a gain > 8 dBi, covering the frequency region from 1.54 to 3.13 GHz. A stable radiation pattern is obtained and the 3 dB beamwidth is 62 ± 4° at E-plane and 63 ± 4° at H-plane over the bandwidth. This model has been manufactured, and the experimental results are in good accordance with the simulated ones. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

采用回旋动理学方程推导得到了环向转动托卡马克等离子体中测地声模的色散关系,分析了环向转动对测地声模、低频模和声波分支的频率以及无碰撞阻尼率的影响。结果表明,测地声模的频率会随着环向转动马赫数而逐渐增大,而其无碰撞阻尼率则会随着环向转动马赫数而迅速减小。此外,低频模和声波分支的频率以及无碰撞阻尼率都会随着环向转动马赫数而逐渐减小,其中环向转动对声波分支的频率以及无碰撞阻尼率的影响非常小,基本上可以忽略。

Fast wave in the ion-cyclotron resonance frequency (ICRF) range is a promising candidate for non-inductive current drive (CD), which is essential for long pulse and high performance operation of tokamaks. A numerical study on the ICRF fast wave current drive (FWCD) and mode-conversion current drive (MCCD) in the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) is carried out by means of the coupled full wave and Ehst-Karney parameterization methods. The results show that FWCD efficiency is notable in two frequency regimes, i.e., integral >= 85 MHz and integral = 50-65 MHz, where ion cyclotron absorption is effectively avoided, and the maximum on-axis driven current per unit power can reach 120 kA/MW. The sensitivity of the CD efficiency to the minority ion concentration is confirmed, owing to fast wave mode conversion, and the peak MCCD efficiency is reached for 22% minority-ion concentration. The effects of the wave-launch position and the toroidal wavenumber on the efficiency of current drive are also investigated. Published by AIP Publishing.
