A novel adsorbent magnetic functionalized m-carboxyphenyl azo calix[4]arene symmetrical sulfide derivative (Fe3O4/M-CCSSD) was fabricated by a series of simple reactions and characterized by FT-IR and SEM. The effects on U (VI) adsorption process were investigated at several conditions. The calculated data disclose that the adsorption process of U (VI) by Fe3O4/M-CCSSD is an endothermic spontaneous process, which well fits with the pseudo-second-order kinetic and Freundlich isotherm model. In the most favorable conditions, accounting for approximately 89% of U (VI) was removed. In addition, Fe3O4/M-CCSSD showed high selectivity for U (VI) and exceptional reusability.

The fallout of the radioactive nuclide cesium (Cs) has posed its potential environmental threat to human health and ecosystem during the Fukushima accident. Thus, Cs decontamination from radioactive wastewater is strongly required for treating similar occurrences. In this work, a coupling method was applied to achieve Cs+ removal and solidification in one conducting system. Ammonium molybdophosphate (AMP) was loaded to blast furnace slag (BFS) particles for the preparation of adsorbent (BFS-AMP) and binder. The maximum adsorption capacity of BFS-AMP for Cs+ was 23.36 mg/g obtaining at the pH of 8 and the initial concentration of 500 mg/L in the equilibrium adsorption experiments. Cs+ uptake confirmed to the pseudo-first-order kinetic model. Electrokinetics (EK) not only increased the adsorption capacity of BFS-AMP also enhanced the migration of Cs+ ions from the anode to cathode in the electrolyzer. The transfer of Cs+ ions from liquid to solid in the electrolyzer was controlled by both voltage gradients and flow rates. The solidification of EK-treated BFS-AMP mortar was mainly dominated by the mass ratios (wt.%) of alkali activator to adsorbent and the initial pH values. Cs+ leaching from the solidified products of EK-treated BFS-AMP mortars ranged from approximately 1.18 x 10(-7) to 9.54 x 10(-6) g cm(-2) .d(-1). The electromigration, geopolymer stabilization, and hydration encapsulation were concluded as the main incorporation mechanisms for Cs+ ions transferring from the stock solution into the BFS-AMP-based solidification in the electrolyzer. 摘要:
A year-long monitoring of gamma radiation effective dose rate and radon concentration had been done in the reservoir area of one uranium tailings pond in Hunan province (The monitoring area included indoor and outdoor area of residential buildings and workshops, tailings dam slope). Afterwards, the annual effective radiation dose of the people in that radiation environment had been calculated based on the results of monitoring, as well as a radiation risk assessment. According to the assessment, gamma radiation effective dose rate and radon concentration in the monitoring area were low, and the annual effective radiation dose was far below the international standard (30mSv), which showed that the radiation would not put the people's health at risk. However, the annual effective radiation dose of gamma was far above that of radon in the area of uranium tailings pond; therefore, it's advisable to take quarantine measures in in the area of uranium tailings pond to keep the surrounding residents away from unnecessary ionizing radiation.

The p-tert-butyl calix[4]arene symmetrical sulfide derivatives (3a and 3b) were successfully synthesized using p-tert-butyl calix[4]arene as the raw material and were characterized by FT-IR. The effects of pH value, temperature, and contact time on the U(VI) extraction with compounds 3a and 3b from aqueous solution were systematically investigated. The results showed that the optimum pH value for uranium extraction was 4.0 and the extraction equilibration time was 90 min. It is also found that the pseudo-second-order kinetic model (R
2 > 0.999) was better fitted to the extraction process. The thermodynamic parameters of the enthalpy (ΔH
θ) were all negative, indicating that the extraction reaction were exothermic reaction.

We used density functional theory calculations at the B3LYP/6-311G** level for a theoretical study on the complex formed when uranium(IV) coordinates with N, N'-bis(3-allyl salicylidene)-o-phenylenediamine (BASPDA), i.e., U(BASPDA)_2. The results indicated that the coordination complex of U(BASPDA)_2 could form two different structures with a ratio of 1:2. One was a parallel dislocation structure (PDS-U), in which the two BASPDAs' middle benzene rings adopted a parallel dislocation with an angle of 56.64°, and the other was a staggered finger ‘‘+'' structure (SFS-U), in which the two BASPDAs employed the staggered finger ‘‘+'' shape. The binding energies, charge distribution, spectral properties, thermodynamic properties, molecular orbitals and Wiberg bond indices for both PDS-U and SFS-U were calculated and compared with each other.

Novel group quantitative structure-property relationship (QSPR) models on the thermodynamic properties of PBXTHs were presented, by the multiple linear regression (MLR) analysis method. Four thermodynamic properties were studied: the entropy (S-theta), the standard enthalpy of formation (Delta H-f(theta)), the standard Gibbs energy of formation (Delta(f)G(theta)), and the relative standard Gibbs energy of formation (Delta(R)G(theta)). The results by the formula indicate that the calculated and predicted data in this study are in good agreement with those in literature and the deviation is within the experimental errors. To validate the estimation reliability for internal samples and the predictive ability for other samples, leave-one-out (LOO) cross validation (CV) and external validation were performed, and the results show that the models are satisfactory.
