摘要:
This paper proposes a novel robust adaptive modulation controller (RAMC) for thyristor controlled series capacitor (TCSC) in interconnected power systems to damp low frequency oscillation. The main idea of the controller is to drive the area centers of inertia (COI) to a stable equilibrium point and keep system synchronization. COI-coordinate-based model is derived first. Then RAMC for TCSC is derived using back-stepping method with COI dynamic signals from WAMS. The new controller performance is tested through a three-area power system and the simulation results show clearly that the new controller using COI signals has superior performance as compared with the conventional controller.

Femtosecond laser micromachining of a Zr-based amorphous alloy in air, including measuring the ablation threshold, micro-drilling and trenching, was investigated. The threshold of ablating this amorphous alloy was determined by experiment. Laser-induced ablation and associated damage were examined by means of optical microscope, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and electron diffraction diagram. The results show that conventional processing method induced defects in the vicinity of machined area, such as crystallization, molten trace and spatter, were absent in femtosecond laser ablation area with selected parameters. This indicates that femtosecond laser ablation is a promising method for micromachining amorphous alloys without crystallization.

Accurately measuring exhaled nitric oxide (eNO) is still an unsolved problem. We report the fabrication of a novel nanotube-based gas sensor. The gas sensor consists of a gas-responsive multiwall vanadium oxide nanotube (VO X-NT) layer deposited on a ceramic chip with two Ag-Pd electrodes, a gas sensor signal collecting system and a computer data-processing system. The absorption of different gases in the VOX-NT layer changes the permittivity and conductivity of the material and consequently alters the voltage of the sensor. By measuring the voltage change of the sensor, different gas concentrations can be determined. Our results show that the sensor response to nitric oxide (NO) is both highly sensitive and reversible at room temperature. The VOX-NT-based gas sensor only reponds to NO and water vapor in the exhaled air, and the response is concentration dependent. We suggest that the novel sensor can meet the demands of clinical diagnosis.
