In this study, 24 sediment cores collected from Dongting Lake were detected by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry and HPGe γ-spectrometer for 239+240 Pu, 137 Cs, 226 Ra, and 210 Pb, respectively. Based on the vertical profiles of 210 Pb ex , 239+240 Pu, and 137 Cs, sediment mass accumulation rates (MAR) were calculated, and the responses to major environmental events and anthropogenic activities were discussed.
