The Design and Compilation of Chinese-English Parallel Corpus of Public Signs

规范的双语标识是文化软实力的重要体现，很大程度上反映了所在城市及国家的开放程度和管理水平，对于提升城市的国际形象具有重要的现实意义。文章在梳理国内外标识语研究现状的基础上，重点阐释了自建标识语汉英双语平行语料库的研制过程。在语料库设计方面，文章探讨了语料库建库目的、语料规模、语料选取标准、代表性和取样策略等五个方面的内容；在语料库创建方面，则对语料采集、语料的电子化、语料标注和语料平行等几个方面进行了讨论，旨在为从事相关翻译研究和实践的研究人员提供研究思路和借鉴。

Being an embodiment of soft cultural power, the standardized public signs both in English and Chinese, to a large ex-tent, are the reflection of the management level and the international image of the city, or even the whole country.
