Mycoplasma pneumoniae (M. pneumoniae), as an obligate parasite, has evolved a protective strategy for coping with oxidative challenges caused by M. pneumoniae itself as well as the host immune system. However, to date, few antioxidant enzymes have been identified in mycoplasmas.
