The semi-heterogeneous g-C3N4/NaI dual catalytic system-driven C-C bond formation between quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones and arylhydrazines under blue light irradiation has been reported for the first time. The photo-generated hole acted as a traceless oxidant to turn over the iodide salt redox catalyst cycle and the photo-generated electron served as a clean reductant to promote the bond formation process.
