A method was developed for cyanobacteria bloom (unicellular and colonial Microcystis aeruginosa) mitigation using calcium hydroxide and an illite composite algicide. The maximum cell removal efficiency was 84.72% when calcium hydroxide was used alone. When illite and calcium hydroxide were used together, the removal efficiency increased to 90.43% within 9 h. In addition, the results also showed that the composite algicide could remove total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) in eutrophic water. However, the removal efficiency of TP is more...
