A new catalytic spectrophotometry for the determination of trace iron was established.The method is based on the hyperchrome of o-methoxyphnol oxidized by ammonium persulfate under the catalysis of trace iron in H 2SO 4 medium.This method showed a high sensitivity and accuracy , good selectivity and operating simplicity, a detection limit of 7.52×10 -10g/ml for Fe 3+and a linear relation within the range of 0.002~0.6μg/25ml Fe 3+, This method has been applied to detect trace iron in several environment water samples with satisfactory resules...
