On the Humor Translation of Chinese Humorous Texts—A Case Study of the Third Chapter of Ru Lin Wai Shi

该文以言语幽默概论及其延伸理论为理论基础,以《儒林外史》第三回及其两个英译本为研究语料,重点探讨修辞手段的翻译对译文中脚本对立保留的影响。通过对比发现,杨译忠实于原文形式与内容,修辞手段与幽默效果大多得到保留;王译则更加顺畅,但幽默效果丢失处更多。

Taking the General Theory of Verbal Humor and its Extended Theory as its theoretical foundation, this paper at-tempts to investigate humor translation in the third chapter of Ru Lin Wai Shi.
