An Empirical Study of Listening Anxiety on Its Cause and Coping Strategy

语言焦虑与听力成绩呈一定相关性；听力活动中的紧张感、听力技巧的缺乏、背景知识的生疏、英语整体水平的限制及听力材料的难度导致的压力是造成学习者产生听力焦虑的五个主要成因；面对听力中的负面焦虑，学习者通常采用解决问题、寻求帮助、放松练习和尝试逃避等应对策略。

This study adopts two instruments including questionnaire and interview for a survey on listening anxiety with 147 university students as subjects. The results show that there exists a certain correlation between listening anxiety and listening proficiency. Listening anxiety and listening proficiency is significantly and negatively related. Factor analysis also shows that there are five specific factors forming the resources of listening anxiety which include nervousness in listening activities; lack of listening skill ; unfamiliarity with the background knowledge; poor English proficiency and...
