Genetic polymorphisms and mutations of APC gene are associated with the development of cancer. Recently, a highly polymorphic 1493 code was identified by sequencing cancer tissues. The present study reported a mutation-sensitive switch based assay for code 1493 of APC gene. This assay has been applied in the analysis of both individual samples and DNA pool, showing an extremely high specificity (100% correctness) when compared with conventional sequencing analysis.
