中国古代小说形神理论开启于叶昼,发展于金圣叹,在张竹坡那里达到高峰,是我国古代小说人物形象塑造理论的重要组成部分,它强调在形似基础上的神似,并对小说的传神论作出了较为详尽的理论分析,从而成为中国古代形神理论百花园中的一朵奇葩。
