In this paper, a 3D multiphase flow model has been established for the plasma transferred arc (PTA) cladding of composite powder (NiCrBSi/50 wt% WC) on a 40CrNi2MoA substrate. The multiphase flow model simulates both the discrete phase (WC particles) and continuous phase in the melt pool, including the behaviors of heat transfer and particle distribution. The buoyancy, arc pressure, surface tension, and electromagnetic force are calculated.
