The properties of resonance fluorescence spectra of pyronine Y(PY) were studied.The catalytic effect of formaldehyde on the oxidation of PY by potassium bromate in sulphuric acid medium resulted in the decrease of intensity of resonance fluorescence of PY,and a catalytic resonance fluorescence method based on it was proposed for the determination of trace formaldehyde.The linear range was 0.02—1.20μg/mL and the detection limit was 6.1×10-3μg/mL.The recoveries were 96.5%—98.5%.The method is quick,simple,and was applied to the de...
