Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), formerly known as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), is characterized by systemic insulin resistance and metabolic dysfunction. MASLD/NAFLD elevates the risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD).
