The prevalence of Type 2 diabetes (T2D) has been globally increased since the last decade. T2D is a condition of relative insulin insufficiency, in which hyperglycemia develops when the insulin secretory capacity of β-cells is no longer sufficient to meet the insulin requirement in the setting of insulin resistance.
