In order to eliminate the imbalance among cells, this paper proposes a particle swarm optimization based cell balancing method for Li-ion batteries. First, we introduce the switched resistor balancing circuit, where the circuit is further modeled using the switched system theory. Then, the particle swarm optimization method is introduced and we discuss how to integrate the particle swarm optimization method in the cell balancing design.
