Cyanobacterial blooms have become a serious environmental threat throughout the world. In addition, many cyanobacteria can produce microcystins (MCs), which can threaten human and ecosystem health. Therefore, the removal of Microcystis aeruginosa cells and MCs is essential. In the present work, a modified shrimp shell adsorbent was devel-oped for the removal of M. aeruginosa cells and MCs.
