Three different types of TiN powders were precoated on the surface of Zr-4 alloy, the TiN/ZrN composite coating was in-situ synthesized on the surface of zirconium alloy by CO2 transverse flow laser. Microstructure, phase, microhardness and dry sliding wear resistance of the coating at room temperature were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), micro-hardness tester, friction and wear tester.
