It is well-recognized that hyperlipidemia and lipid peroxidation contribute to the progression of diabetic nephropathy (DN), which is associated with oxidative stress (OS) and fibrotic lesions. Ibrolipim, a specific lipoprotein lipase activator, has been proved to reduce hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia, suppress renal lipid deposition, and also protect renal damage.
